Rumpelstiltskin's Holiday Shopping

I watched that scene with Ashley in the pawn shop so many times while working on my last comic that when it showed those dolls on the bed in the most recent episode I immediately recognized them.
This begs the question again of WHY?! Why Rumpelstiltskin?! Why do you want babies? Why do you want dolls? What good do these things do you? Or do you just like being mean?
